Join Us at UNC for Bridging the Gap: Translating Global Hygiene Research into Policy for Public Health

Excited to continue the dialogue from the 2023 Global Hygiene Symposium (GHS), RGHI is hosting a side-event at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Water & Health Conference. This event aims to bridge the gap between hygiene research and policy-making, addressing the persistent challenges of turning research into actionable public health policies.

Date – Tuesday, October 15th
Time – 1:30 – 3:00 PM
Location – Sunflower Room, UNC Water & Health Conference, North Carolina (Virtual attendance available)

The session will explore key barriers preventing the translation of hygiene research into effective policies:

✨ How can researchers better support and influence policymakers in utilising their findings, especially when policymakers face technical complexities and competing demands?
✨ What role can multidisciplinary approaches play in making hygiene research more impactful on a global scale?

We are honoured to be joined by an expert panel including:
💡 Mary Ashinyo. MD, MPH, FGCPS
💡 Bethany Caruso
💡 Jenala Chipungu
💡 Robert Dreibelbis
💡 Henry Aibara Northover

The discussion will be moderated by Clarissa Brocklehurst

This event also offers attendees the chance to participate in world café-style breakout groups, fostering in-depth conversations on whether these barriers are specific to hygiene or shared across different regions and policy contexts.

Whether you are attending in person or virtually, we would very much like you to join us to engage with global experts and collaborate on overcoming the hurdles in hygiene research and policy integration.
