About Me
I’m a lecturer-researcher with a strong commitment to improving public health and food safety. My current work focuses on an RGHI project dedicated to enhancing the hygiene of street-vended food in Benin, West Africa. Street food plays a vital role in the lives of many, providing accessible meals and supporting livelihoods, but ensuring its safety is crucial for protecting public health. However, concerns about foodborne diseases and hygiene practices present significant public health challenges.
This project inspires me because it bridges research with tangible impact, addressing critical issues like foodborne illnesses while supporting local vendors in adopting better hygiene practices. I believe this work can create healthier communities and improve confidence in street food as a sustainable part of the food system. My ambition is to continue leading projects that blend science and community engagement to address pressing challenges in food safety and agriculture, contributing to long-term development in the region.
Through the RGHI project, I am investigating key hygiene gaps in the street food sector, identifying microbial and environmental risks, and working collaboratively with local vendors and stakeholders to develop tailored interventions. These efforts aim to promote safer food handling practices, reduce contamination risks, and build trust in the safety of street-vended food.
