RGHI Fellows to Present at ASTMH Annual Meeting 2024: Advancing One Health and Hygiene Integration
Emily Giles, Operations and Communications Manager, RGHI — 12 November 2024
On Thursday 14 November, RGHI Fellows Max Eyre, Fanta Gutema, and Elizabeth Thomas will be presenting groundbreaking research at this year’s American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) Annual Meeting 2024. Their work focuses on the critical intersection of One Health and hygiene practices, building on momentum from previous global health conferences.
The session “Setting the research agenda for integrating One Health and Hygiene: a Delphi method synthesis of expert opinion” addresses a crucial gap identified in the UNEP One Health Joint Plan of Action. This innovative symposium will bring together experts from various disciplines to develop a comprehensive research agenda for integrating One Health and hygiene approaches.
Building on valuable insights gathered at the 2023 UNC Water & Health Conference and Global Hygiene Summit, this session will engage ASTMH’s interdisciplinary audience in a dynamic, interactive format using the Delphi method. The session aims to harness collective expertise through live voting, allowing participants to identify and prioritise key research areas for effective One Health and hygiene integration.
This presentation represents a significant step in bridging the gap between One Health and WASH sectors, bringing together experts in epidemiology, public health, animal health, and WASH to create a unified approach to global health challenges.
Join our Fellows for this engaging session, where your expertise and input will help shape the future of integrated One Health and hygiene research. Together, we can build a more comprehensive understanding of how these crucial fields intersect and influence global health outcomes.
The session is on Thursday, 14 November at 5:15pm.
